The Unwritten RPG Kickstarter is live!

InkWorks Productions is pleased to announce the launch of the Kickstarter for Unwritten: Adventures in the Ages of Myst and Beyond!

Unwritten brings the surreal worlds of Myst and Uru to tabletop role-playing. Using the popular FATE gaming engine, Unwritten gives players the chance to delve into the depths of D’ni’s troubled past, influence the future of the D’ni, and explore or even create new Ages.

The D’niverse has room for any of the stories you want to tell. YOUR story is Unwritten.

The Kickstarter includes some fantastic rewards, including full BETA access, handcrafted arts, and, of course the book itself!

We invite you to become a part of Unwritten, and help bring the Ages of the D'ni from the video game, into the hands of players & GMs.

Video Games Live Level 3 Kickstarter

Video Games Live, the music concert created by Tommy Tallarico and Jack Wall (composer for Myst III: Exile and Myst IV: Revelation) is running a fundraiser on Kickstarter for a third album.  The kickstarter runs until approximately 9AM Eastern (07:00 KI time) on Friday, September 13th.

Fans may recall that Video Games Live's original album featured a medley of music from Myst, Uru, Exile, and Revelation.  At this time, no new Myst compositions have been announced for the 3rd album (though anyone pledging $10,000 or more could make that happen!); thus far, music from The Secret of Monkey Island, Street Fighter II, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim have been announced as planned compositions should the fundraiser succeed.

Of special note, unlike Video Games Live's second album, all of the music for the third album is to be recorded without a live audience.

Last but not least, Tommy Tallarico will be holding an AMA ("Ask Me Anything") on popular social news site this coming Sunday September 8th at 5pm Pacific/8pm Eastern (18:00 KI time).

Update 11-Sep-2013:  The Kickstarter is funded, AND music from DOTA 2 by Tim Larkin (composer for Uru and MYST 5: End of Ages) will be included on the new album!

An Interview With Robyn Miller (Part 1)

The D'ni Musicological Research Hood had a very special treat for all of us Myst and URU fans on Friday, the 8th of February: They invited Robyn Miller for a Q&A and a discussion about the Myst games series and his part in creating them and also to discuss his other projects.

Robyn is the brother of Rand Miller and Ryan Miller, a co-founder of the game company Cyan, Inc. (now Cyan Worlds, Inc.), and the man who played Sirrus in the original Myst. He created the music for both Myst and Riven: The Sequel To Myst and has continued his career well beyond the world of D'ni.

In this interview, Robyn reflects on Myst and Riven, especially his "drive" in the creation of the games.  He chats about the creative process when composing the scores for both games and the tools he used, as well as the technical limitations he, Rand and the rest had to deal with at that time.
